Peter + Kelly’s celebration was a fun affair with a great relaxed vibe all the way. From the first moments we met them and their army of friends and family at the Goshen College cabin, to the last glimmering reflection of the tandem bicycle as they rode into the night, it was a fantastic, fun event to be caught up in:) They are such a laid-back pair, at ease throughout the action-packed day of setting up tables and chairs, dancing, and sparkler tunnel jogging. From our second meeting with them when we first saw their earthy, eclectic-ly awesome invitations (by Hannah Gerig Meyer), to the excellent Bluegrass band (Les, Gwen and Sadie Gustafson-Zook, Randy Horst, and David Roth-Sawafzky), Jazz guitarist (Rafael Chavez), and ceremony violinists (Amy Kauffman and Neil Dufallo) on Saturday, we loved all of their decor and musical choices! Kelly and her mother picked up mountains of small vintage-y plates at garage sales and flea markets in the months leading up to the wedding. Each guest got to choose their own plate, decide which delectable desserts (home recipes of myriad family and friends) to heap upon it, and then take the plate home with them as a wedding gift! A sweet idea:) Very cool plates, too! To back up a bit, the wedding started with Hors d’oeuvres and then moved on to a fantastic dinner with grilled salmon, hamburgers and portobello mushrooms. Those who finished early enjoyed some croquet, ladderball, corn-hole, or soccer as everyone else finished dinner. Then a great, unique pond-side ceremony was followed up with dessert and then dancing! When things settled down a bit, the lovers Koontz hurried down the brick walkway beneath a tunnel of sparklers to their getaway vehicle: an awesome red tandem bicycle, complete with a Just Married sign! Congratulations Peter and Kelly! You guys are wonderful and we wish you all the best in your new life as husband and wife:)!
